Cafe du Cycliste Autumn/Winter review

DAPHNé LONG SLEEVE PERFORMANCE JERSEY

Cafe du Cycliste have used a Lightweight fabric with thin fleece inside made of 80% Polyamide and 20% Elastane that Adds warm in the changeable condition in the spring and Autumn compared to a normal jersey. When the temperature gets under 14-15 degrees I find it too cold unless you combine it with a gilet then it can be used at even lower temperatures.

It has a nice tight racing fit helped by the high content of Elastane. It sits tight to your body in a pleasant fit. This jersey will not flap in the wind. It has a cycling specific cut which means that the front is short when standing up but give it the perfect length when riding the bike.

The waist and cuff bands are closing tight and stays in place. There are made of a perforated High wicking blend. Well thought out because here you will often collect sweat because of the tight fit.

The back pockets is a traditional 3-pocket design and the middle pocket has a normal size but the two side pockets is a bit smaller in wide. It means that it has limited hold of bigger items in the side pockets. The positive is that it looks great wearing because the pockets never bulge out on the side of you hips. This is also helped by the way they are sewen on the inside with an elastic support at the top. This keeps the pockets in place very nicely. The height of the pockets is cut a little low similar to what you find in some aero jerseys.

There are two zipped pockets for valuables, though there are not waterproof it is great with two zipped pockets so small things like keys and money etc. can be stored seperately.

The main body of the jersey has breathable and lightweight fabric that has a surpricingly durability. On my first ride i was attacked by 4 dogs and one of them manage to bit me in the arm. But surpricinly even if I got a wound on the skin the fabric of the jersey was not penetrated. So Maybe that saved me from getting rabies or other nasty diseases.

ADéLE THERMAL BIB SHORTS

As always from Cafe du Cycliste the bib shorts is beautifully constructed. The fabric is made from 49% polyamide, 35% Polyester and 16% elastomer and is really nice for a Thermal ‘Winter bib’. On the inside, the fabric has a classic Roubaix surface that keeps your tight, hips and behind warm. On the outside, the surface has a nice texture that gives the Bibshorts their distinctive look.

The high-quality inset comes from CyTech or Elastic as they call them self these days. It is difficult to argue the quality of Cytechs inset they produce to my knowledge some of the best inset on the market. Aligned perfectly in the Cafe du Cycliste bib shorts it does not disappoint.

The length of the bibs is really good not too short and not too long.  Cut slightly longer than the Josefine summer bib shorts that tested last year (Link). The slightly added length is normal procedure for thermal bib shorts. To add To keep the understated look there is a little reflective fabric on the back of both legs. They come with a nice balanced Compression and fit and therefore feels comfortable to wear. The grippers are a shallow band of silicone witch do the job of keeping the bibs in place on the tights.

I would use them when the temperatures are 16-17 degrees and combined with knee warmers if the temperature drops under 16 degrees. I tested the bib shorts on one the climbs to Etna. At the bottom, it is 17 degrees but when you reach the top it is 10 degrees. In these changeable conditions, the Cafe du Cycliste thermal bib shorts help you keep warm.

STRIPED SOCKS

Breathable, high wicking and fast drying. Similar in quality to other high-end brands. I would use these socks in spring-summer-autumn. Buy them if you like the design!
